MMC Nodes: DM Actions

Right-clicking on a DM Actions node results in the following functions:

Add DM Actions

Adds actions to the selected DM. The type of action and the resulting action configuration varies according to the DM to which the action is to be added. As an example, consider adding an action to a Performance Monitor DM (DM_PERFMON):

·    Slot Name

Defines to which slot the defined action is to be bound. Available slots are listed under the pull down tab.

·    DM Action Type

Specifies the type of action to perform:

o     R

Enables the action to be read-only (only read data from a server).

o     W

Enables the action to be write-only (write data back to a server).

o     RW

Enables the action to be both read and write (read data from and write data back to a server).

The remaining action configuration properties are DM dependant. Please consult the specific DM's action properties for more information.

Import DM Actions

Imports actions from a previously exported actions configuration file (any IDX version).

Export DM Actions

Exports the DM Actions for the current DM into a corresponding IDX configuration file.

Reconfigure

Forces the reloading of the current DM’s action configuration information. This is akin to a refresh, and should be toggled when configuration changes are made while the IDX service is running.

All Tasks

·      Get Missing DB slots

Lists any missing DB slots based on the list of DM actions. The undesirable situation of missing DB slots may occur if incoherent DB slot/DM action data is imported into the current configuration. In such cases, the result may be that DM actions are defined for non-existent DB slots. This function identifies these missing slots.

·      Create missing DB slots

Creates all the DB slots identified as missing in the above function. This causes the configuration database to become coherent.

·      Get Mismatched DM Actions

Lists all mismatched DM actions. This undesirable situation is usually caused by mismatched imported DM and DB data.

·      Sync Mismatched DM Actions

Synchronizes DM actions with DB slots. This function is used to correct any mismatches between DM actions and DB slots.

·      Add Slots using Configuration Wizard

Launches the DM-specific slot wizard to automate the addition of slots/actions from an existing server. Slot names and actions are dynamically generated based on browsing server tag names. Please see the Configuration Wizard Tools for additional information on how to use these tools.

IDX DM Actions List

The IDX DM Actions list is viewed by left-click selection of the DM Actions node. This displays all the currently configured DM actions in the right-hand pane.

·    Filtering Viewable Actions

Actions can be filtered so as to only display actions beginning with a certain name or actions of a specific type, etc. These filters are implemented just below the column field headings. Enter any matchable string in the area marked with ‘Enter text here’. Searching for a single letter, for example, will return all tags containing that letter at any position in the tag name.

·    All tasks

o     Edit Action Properties

Allows for the editing of an existing action’s properties.

o     Delete DM action

Removes the action from the configuration
