MMC Nodes: Groups

Right-clicking on any defined group, results in the following functions:

New Server Registration

Add a IDX machine to the configuration tool for management. This function launches a server selection tool:

· Select a server by browsing for local detected IDX SQL server instances by selecting the … button, or enter the Windows name or IP address and the IDX SQL server instance name directly into the Server dialog box. Browsing is recommended.

· Once the Server dialog is filled, Select the Connect button to connect to the selected IDX configuration database. A prompt for Windows/SQL Authentication will appear. By default, the MMC tool uses Windows Authentication. This is the preferred, more secure method, but means the current user on which the MMC tool is running, must be authenticated to connect to the target machine/database. Alternatively, SQL Authentication may be used, where the User Name = sa and the Password = IDXONLINE.

· Select the Test Connection button to ensure a connection can be made to the target configuration database.

Accordingly, a new IDX server will be added to the current group:
