SNMP Overview

The SNMP facilities provided by IDX make use of MGSofts WinSNMP Engine which is regularly updated to keep pace with the evolving SNMP standards.

The IDX facilities provide TRAP, GET, and SET functions for both SNMP v1 and SNMP v2 devices. The MGSOFT WinSNMP engine is compatible with both Windows NT 4.0 (Service Pack 4 and higher), Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

The IDX SNMP facilities are provided in two complementary formats, namely:

·      An IDX Driver Module (DM_SNMP) that may be loaded as part of an IDX service. The module is able to map local and remote SNMP device OID’s to individual entries in the real-time slot database.

·      As a set of MSDE/MS SQL extended stored procedures, supplied as a single DLL that may be either pre-loaded, or dynamically loaded/unloaded from a running database service.
